#SV – Justified Sinner

Humility is the way of love, of forgiveness, of righteousness, of happiness and joy. This is particularly the case in a world that is defined by power, domination, brute struggle and claims to superiority. Jesus teaches us the other way, the way of humility, of accepting our sinfulness and allowing God to lead and uphold us, to fight for us and plead our cause. Paul while writing to Timothy acknowledged the fact the God stood by him and that it was God that saved him, despite his claims to having done well, and ran a good race (2Tim.4:6-8,16-18).

The acknowledgment of God or of God’s grace in our lives should not be a matter of lip service, a public display of our journey with God, but a very deep interior disposition that allows us to constantly re-examine our conscience. Being vigilant over our souls is a sure way to embracing grace, and making sure that we do not become willing or unwilling collaborators of evil. What happens sometimes, when we claim self-righteous, is that we leverage on the public perception of our righteousness to ‘fix things’ for evil ones. We guarantee them a place even in heaven on the basis of our self-acclaimed righteousness. In fact, there is the story of pastor who while defiling one of her female members, assured her that ‘my grace covers you’!

Be vigilant over your soul child of God, examine your conscience constantly, acknowledge your sins, confess your sins, and resolve to be better each day!
