The time to live rightly is not tomorrow, but today for each day is the day. Staying awake is simply a metaphor to staying on the path of righteousness that Christ has laid out for us. We should stop behaving towards God in a transactional manner but to see godliness as a lifestyle, one that is designed to give us the very things that we desire – abundant life, peace, unity, prosperity, and a reign of love among men and women on earth. This is the story of heaven, where God dwells in the splendour of His glory.
