#SV – Set Me On My Feet

A prophet is the one who is set on his/her feet at two important moments. First is at the moment of the reception of the mission, and second is during the mission itself. Ezekiel was probably having a chill time when the Spirit of God entered him and set him on his feet to receive the assignment to the Israelites (Ez.2:2-3). When the Spirit of God sets us on our feet we are activated, burning with the duty to share the Gospel, no matter how uncomfortable it might be, both for us and for the people. This is why the prophet’s presence is never mistaken; it is always obvious: “And whether they heed or resist…they shall know that a prophet has been among them” (v.5). The prophet is set on his/her feet so as to set others on their feet to do what is right before God. And so, he or she is always on the ‘hot seat’ facing both his/her insufficiencies as well as the “insults, hardships, persecutions, and constraints for the sake of Christ” (2Cor.12:10). This was the experience of brother Paul, and even of Christ himself (Mk.6:4). A cool, chilling ‘prophet’ is simply an empty title.
