The first post on this website happened more than 7 seven years ago, precisely on 18 April 2018. In the next few months, we shall be clocking 8! That is quite a milestone built on consistency and determination to contribute to public Christian discourse. And this new year 2026, we are launching a new logo to represent the ‘alongsideoneanother’ brand.

Of course, we recognise that the posts on this website have for many years now focused on the Sunday reflections, tagged ‘Sunday Vibe’, yet we remain committed to our original objective of a broad range of articles and reflections that approach public discourse from the perspective of Christian spirituality, theology and philosophy. We therefore invite the public to reach out if you have an excellent piece that you want to share with the public.
Bear in mind that this website is open to ecumenical reflections. This is in line with the inspiration that birthed it. The name ‘alongsideoneanother’ is actually taken from the 2013 Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis, Evangelii Gaudium, specifically paragraph 244, which opens the sub-section on “Ecumenical dialogue”. In that paragraph, pope Francis, states “We must never forget that we are pilgrims journeying alongside one another. This means that we must have sincere trust in our fellow pilgrims, putting aside all suspicion or mistrust, and turn our gaze to what we are all seeking: the radiant peace of God’s face. Trusting others is an art and peace is an art.” It is our pleasure therefore to continue to promote ecumenical exchanges in a way that deepens the common baptismal faith that we share as Christians, through simple spiritual discourses. The intention is not to engage in theological dialogue of experts since this is not the appropriate place to do that, although outcomes of such dialogue could be distilled here.
The focus is to nurture faith that is lived in concrete daily experiences. So, I invite you once again to stand alongside one another as we journey this new year, guided by the light of the Holy Spirit.
In Christ,
Ikenna Paschal Okpaleke
