#SV – On the First Day

The opening from John 20 echoes Genesis 1 and reframes everything that follows. Christ, through his death and resurrection, re-ordered a history that had veered off its original trajectory, and restored it once again to the path of salvation. Peter’s speech in Acts 10 grounds the resurrection in testimony (“witnesses”), while Colossians 3 makes it personal and present-tense (“you have been raised”). We have been raised, indeed, to be witnesses to this truth. #SV – A Living Hope

Today is also known as Sunday of Divine Mercy. Through the resurrection of Christ, we have received, as Peter puts it God’s “great mercy” that provides us with “a living hope”. The resurrection hope changes us, it renews us, it transforms us from our pitiable state of lack, sorrow, suffering and shame to a place of life, love, joy and thanksgiving.
