So many friends, yet no friend
So many people I know, yet nobody
I am all alone in my own big world
Nobody cares after all.
They should have sent messages and called
They should have checked on me and visited
How can they all be happy? How can they all smile?
When I’m not happy, when I can’t smile
Nobody cares after all.
I do not want to open my eyes this morning
I do not want to leave my bed today
I do not want to eat and go out
I just want to drift to solitude-because-
Nobody cares after all.
But why am I alone?
With thousands of friends on my social media
I chat with tens of them daily
Always the first to send birthday wishes everyday-yet-
Nobody cares?
We’re all engrossed daily in our little toys
Never lifting our heads up to say ‘hello’
Communicating with people all over the world
Into everybody’s business, yet out of them
Nobody cares after all.
We are distracted, carried away by life
The deceitful nature of life that may prevent us-
Prevent us from realizing the emptiness and alienation of us
Lonely when we’re alone, alone when we’re surrounded
And we say nobody cares after all?
When everybody’s talking without speaking
When everybody’s hearing without listening
When people next to each other say things to everybody
Yet say nothing to the ones surrounding them
Nobody cares after all?
Well-Everyone needs to stop! And right away!
Everyone needs to listen to an inner sound
The inner sound that can help you realize your emptiness
The conflict between material values in our modern world
(It’s not like nobody cares).
Silence-It has an abnormal unhealthy growth (like cancer)
Sound of silence- the incommunicability among people
It is not out of being unempathetic
It is not because we are careless
It is because we are ignorant.
We are ignorant of the inability of people to communicate
Not particularly intentional, but especially emotionally
So what we see are people unable to love each other
Because everyone is talking without speaking
It is the Sound of Silence.

Aww… I’m honored Father. Thank you so much

Great poem Rev. We will be awake when we stop existing and start living. When we begin to search for the things that are important to us, when we start considering humans more than material things, when we stop living to impress people and start living to please God, when we start thinking of what we can give to make others happy and not what others can do to make us happy then we can be fulfilled. The feeling of emptiness and silence will be wiped out. The joy comes from within and not without. If u sow bountifully u will reap bountifuuly.if u sow sparingly so shall u reap sparingly. God bless.

Thanks Shella. We are faced with a world that is fragmented and further fragmenting every day. While we struggle with disunity, we are also confronted by individualism, loneliness and indifference. God bless you for your comment!

Great poem of solitude
So many people feel lonely while surrounded by many. If we can only learn to reach out to them and teach them how to love and be loved,
If only…

Lovely piece Padre!
So many have dozens of friends but when they need someone to talk to, someone to pour their hearts to, they will realize they are just alone😥😥

You are very correct Chioma. One thing is to have people around, but another is to find that someone you can trust with the deepest agitations in your mind. That’s part of the crisis of our modern world. But this is call for each any one of us to be that one person that could be there for others in their lonely moments, with a patient ear to listen with them, together, the sound of their silence.
